Niall O’Brien is a photographer and director from Dublin, Ireland, whose work explores themes of identity, isolation, and connection through raw emotional intimacy and dark humor. His photographs and films have been exhibited internationally, including solo shows at the Bridge Gallery (Orlando), Sid Motion Gallery (London), Sunday Inventory Gallery (Zurich), and Upon Space (Berlin). His work has also featured in group exhibitions at prestigious venues such as La Fondation Louis Vuitton (Paris), PhotoIreland Festival (Dublin Castle), and Little Big Man Gallery (Los Angeles).

Niall’s photography has been published by A24, Little Toller, and featured in publications like Time, Dazed and Confused, Another Magazine, 10 Magazine, and Creative Review. His awards include a Kinsale Shark Award for Best Edit (2018) and a nomination for Best Director at the Kinsale Shark Awards (2024), as well as selection by the Singapore International Photography Festival (2010).

In both his photography and directing work, Niall’s style is grounded, poetic, and human, capturing flawed, searching characters caught between collapse and transformation.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, Niall studied fine art photography at the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology.
